Attitude of Gratitude

“I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.”
Psalm 9:1 NIV

Gratitude.
Take 1.
Action.

I know it’s been a while. Life can take so many amazing turns! God has been faithful.  There are so many things to be grateful and thankful about. I strongly believe that we should be thankful in all circumstances, no matter what, even through the good, the bad and the ugly. This will be my last post of the year, so please be sure to enjoy it!

We should always be grateful to God and give thanks. Even through this tough COVID-19 time, God has continued to be the one constant! I am alive, I am healthy, my family is healthy. I am grateful. Granted, many plans that we thought of this year may have been cancelled or postponed, but I continue to be grateful for life.

2020 has been a great year. Am I saying that it’s been an easy year? NO. But, it has been a wonderful year for me. At the beginning of the year, it was like I knew something major was going to happen. January 1st of this year, I was able to travel and go on a tropical vacation. I am so happy I did.

Fast forward to March, COVID-19 hit and it changed a lot of things for many people. But I would say God continued to bless me. I have had the opportunity to get closer to God, start something new, learn new things, challenge myself, sustain work, even start a new job. I have done things that I never would have done if it were not for this pandemic.

What are you grateful for? I know sometimes it is really challenging to think about, but what are you grateful for? I encourage you to count your blessings, list some if you have to. I want you to also list some of the bad things, and still thank God, because as the word of God says in James, all hardships and trials develop endurance within us.

As the year draws close to its end, I would like to challenge every one to really think about all the things that God has done for you. COVID-19 is COVID-19, refocus and think about what God has done. Every day for the rest of year, drop a note in a gratitude jar about how great God has been and what you are grateful for. At the end of the year, take them out and reflect. Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.

Let’s share our last prayer of the year:

God, we thank you so much for everything you have done for us. Although it has been a trying year, God, you have been the same, you have not changed and we thank you for that. God, thank you for my life, thank you for breathe. The days may not be easy, but thank you for being my anchor of hope. Thank you for a warm place to rest my head this winter, thank you for your unfailing love, thank you for grace, thank you for all the blessings. Thank you for the challenges and making me stronger. Thank you for being my strength when I am weak. God, I pray that you will take control of the rest of the year. May you speak to me concerning what you want me to do for the rest of the year. May you guide my steps. May you help me to trust you. May you help me to obey you. May you give me strength. May you abide with me now and forever more. In Jesus name, AMEN.

Sincerely Yours, Lydia.

  1. Through all the changing scenes of life…truly God remains the constant, and for that we are grateful. For that we give thanks because we know we can still look up to this God because He is not changing and remains dependable. Bless you for sharing and can’t wait for what God has in store for this blog next year!!!!!!

  2. What am I grateful for? Honestly, I’m grateful for my life, my family, friends and loved ones! This year hasn’t been an easy one and like you stated Lydia, we can all attest to that fact. God has taught me a lot especially during COVID-19 that I cannot lean on my own strength, knowledge and education. I’ve seen both young and old loose their lives and there was nothing I could do to save them but through it all I’m grateful to God for the opportunity to be there for others and do my best at all times. God richly bless you for the amazing work you’re doing! Keep it up! Can’t wait either for what God has in store for you!

  3. This is indeed a timely message and reminder for all of us. I find that it’s easy to forget our major victories and take to worrying. Thanks for reminding about the importance of thanksgiving!! God bless you sister Lydia!!
