In Faith

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” – Hebrews 11:1 NLT

Faith is a very important topic, not only in our Christian walk, but in life. Faith gives us hope, gives us strength and gives us the courage to move through our day to day. I was having a conversation a little while back and what the person said really struck me. We have faith that when we get on an elevator, it will take us up or down. We have faith that when we sit on a chair, it won’t break. We have faith that our alarm clock will wake us up (some of us, lol).

We have faith that all these things will happen. However, in faith, if these things don’t happen, we do not denounce God, or decrease are trust in God. We see it more as a hiccup in our day. Let’s talk about our Christian faith. Sometimes, having faith for things in our Christian walk is very hard. In our day to day, we can see the chair, so it gives us a little confidence or trust. But how do you have total faith in something that you absolutely cannot see?

Faith requires some degree of belief, time, sacrifice, trust and patience. The Word says, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can move mountains (Matt 17:20). A mustard seed is extremely small. Look at your phone and look at the size of the front camera. It’s as small as that, if not smaller. When Abraham was asked to sacrifice Isaac, not only did he have faith that God will raise him from the dead, but he had reasoned and knew that God would keep his promises and those promises would be fulfilled through Isaac. In that light, Abraham had the mindset, “come what may”, I know that my God will provide. And indeed, God provided (Gen 22, Heb 11:17-19.)

Although sometimes we cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, or the tunnel at all, we know that God is working things out for our good. We may not see the exact blueprint, but our faith in Christ gives us confidence that the things we hope for will come to pass, according to God’s will and promises concerning our life. We trust that just as Jesus performed miracles, healed the sick and raised the dead, there is nothing that God cannot do in our lives. In faith, we believe that God has worked things out for us.

So how do we have faith in something that we don’t see? I think about it like I think about the wind. Although we cannot see the wind, we know it is there. Just because we cannot see it, it does not mean that wind does not exist. In the same way, just because we cannot see God, or see our miracle or our prayer coming to pass, it does not mean that it is not manifesting. Although we may not see that job, or that marriage, that child, that healing, or even if we don’t believe God exists, doesn’t mean that those things are not there. It is all about belief, trust, patience, and time. To be continued…

Let’s say this prayer:

God, thank you for doing all that you do for me. You wake me up every morning and I am grateful for that. God, you know what I am trusting you for. You know what I am hoping for, you know what I have cried out for. Father, your word says it is impossible to please you without faith. Father, I believe you for my miracle, for my healing, for my salvation, for my testimony. Father, help me to have faith. Not only with my words, but with my heart and with my spirit. Help me to have trust and confidence in you. Soothe my anxious thoughts and help me to have faith in you for all things, even when I do not see it. In Jesus name, Amen.

Sincerely Yours, Lydia.
