“Not that we are sufficiently qualified in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency and qualifications come from God.” – 2 Cor 3:5 AMP
This subject is quite near and dear to my heart. In today’s blog, I am going to address the stereotype and the preconceived notion that you (yes, YOU), do not qualify to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to others or even serve as an ambassador of Christ, due to your past. If you don’t know Jesus Christ and want to qualify, continue to read and by the end, you will qualify!
- you are not qualified because you have earned it
- you are not qualified because you went to school for it
- you are not qualified because you’re better than everyone else
- you are not qualified because you feel you haven’t sinned
- you are not qualified because you are self-righteous
I want to get into scripture to really highlight a few things that will help you understand that GOD is the only one who can qualify and disqualify. Let me repeat that: GOD QUALIFIES.
If you look at Leviticus 16 in the Bible, you see that there were pretty strict requirements to worship God. The high priest, let’s call him Bob, had to do all of this to be able to enter the Holies of Holy, just to worship God: kill a ram, a bull, make it a burnt offering, bathe in water, wear a linen tunic, bring two goats, provide a sin offering and another burnt offering, kill a bull… LISTEN, the list goes ON & ON. I am talking 32 verses of what needed to be done. All this JUST to qualify to be able to worship God. A luxury that we enjoy every day by just waking up.
But God tore the curtains so that we can freely worship him and now we are qualified by the shedding of his blood and our ACCEPTANCE of his excellency. God took away all that! We are qualified by our association with the Kingdom of Jesus Christ. We are qualified by association through the blood Jesus shed for us on the cross for our sins (John 3:16). We are qualified because God can glorify himself through anything. The word says that God can cause stones to worship him (Luke 19:40 NIV).
But, let’s get to my MAIN point. Does sin disqualify us from being a Christian and being able to serve Christ, spread the gospel and be an ambassador for Christ? That has been my honest question. (Give me some feedback in the comments). My answer is NO. As the word says in Romans, for all have sinned and come short of the GLORY of God. But it does not disqualify us from being used by God.
I think of David, who was an adulterer, and I see how God still qualified him to lead the people as King. I think of Solomon, a man of MANY wives, yet God still qualified him. Let’s take note that these two men had repentant hearts though! They desired to change and do better. That makes all the difference. It leads me to believe that God can qualify whoever he wants because he can manifest his glory through anyone.
Once again, I am not saying go and sin and say that Lydia said that God qualifies me even if I sin. That is absolutely not what I am saying. But what I AM saying is that, do not disqualify yourself because of your past actions or your flaws, your past sins or anything else. We are qualified by association to Jesus Christ. So my sister, my brother, pick your head up and continue to walk in the light that God has called you to and shame the enemy. OKAY?! #okurrrrrrrr.
If you have been feeling disqualified , I want you to say this prayer and assure yourself that you are qualified by Jesus Christ:
Father God, I thank you for the sacrifice that you have made on the cross for me, so that I may serve you freely, and so that I may worship you freely. Thank you for reminding me that men do not qualify, but the Lord does. In Isaiah 61:1, you say that your spirit is on me, because YOU have anointed and qualified me to spread your word and serve you. As long as you are qualifying and endorsing me father, I will serve you. May you continue to give me strength and boldness to serve you, despite what people will say. May you help me to serve you, despite the judgment that may come. May you use me to impact a generation and may you use my life’s exams and tests as a testimony. In Jesus name, Amen.
For those who do not know God and want to be qualified by that man Jesus rather than man of the world, read this prayer fervently:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite you to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow you as my Lord and Savior. In your Name. Amen.
Thank you all for reading and I hope to see you next week, same place and same time. Drop a comment below. If you accepted Christ, please drop a comment so we can support you in this new journey with Christ!
Sincerely Yours, Lydia.
